Big Sky, Montana

Big Sky is about an hour from West Yellowstone, so we spent a day exploring the mountain town and hiking to Ousel Falls.

Big Sky is known for skiing in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. There were mountain bikes everywhere! Our kids aren’t quite old enough to do any extreme biking, but it was fun to watch them fly down the hill.

Red Lodge and the Beartooth Highway

The town of Red Lodge is tucked away in southern Montana, about an hour southwest of Billings. We arrived in town in the midst of a motorcycle rally and joined in the crowd to take in the shops on Broadway Avenue.

Glacier National Park – Lake McDonald

A trip to Glacier is not complete until you have taken a dive into Lake McDonald (or in my case, a paddle board ride because that water is freezing!) With the lake being within walking distance of the Apgar campground, we got to enjoy this beautiful water on the insanely hot days we had.

Glacier National Park

We were here for the 4th of July!

I am about to dive into one of the most memorable two weeks of this trip (and probably my lifetime of travels) at Glacier National Park. I am going to do a series of posts due to the extent of time and amount of things we got to do while we were there!

To start off, I have had my eye on Glacier for years. The pictures I have seen just instantly drew me to this park. The mountains, lakes, it just looked absolutely phenomenal (and we all know that pictures usually do not do scenery justice).
