Arches National Park

I had no idea that there was a mountain range in view from Moab, Utah. It completes the scenery with the deep red sandstone surrounding the area and the Colorado River running through town.

Arches is a VERY popular park with the gates typically closing for 3-4 hours mid day due to excessive crowds inside. After seeing them closed, and seeing the line form to get in – we set the alarm for an early morning start to get to The Windows Section before it was too crowded. It worked; we had the PERFECT morning viewing the windows and double arches.

The history and time it has taken for the formations to happen throughout the park is almost hard to comprehend. This park offers many shorter viewing hikes which worked out so well for the boys. We got to see a lot of the arches without having to carry two tired (and heavy) boys around.

We *only* did the Delicate Arch upper viewpoint. There is a 3 mile hike in which you can get closer to the arch, but that would have been pushing it after a long morning around the windows. All I have to say is… when you gotta go, you gotta go 🙂

Notable around Moab…

We drove the Scenic 128 and were blown away by the views as you follow the Colorado River. Breathtaking! The only meal out we had was at the Moab Brewery… beer is delicious. The town is fairly crowded in the spring as people are trying to get in the outdoor activities before the summer heat.
